Nora Philippe is a filmmaker, curator, producer and teacher.
She has directed Restitution? (ARTE, 2021), broadcast in 25 countries, Like Dolls, I’ll Rise (2018), which was selected in over 30 festivals in 15 countries, Job Center, Please Hang On (2014), and The Ensorcery of James Ensor (ARTE, 2011). As an art curator, pursuing her work on “archives ordinaires,” material culture and the intimate, she curated the Black Dolls exhibition at La maison rouge in Paris in 2018, and in continuity with the « Filming at the Borders » film series on migration which toured American universities in 2016-2017, she conceived the « Repair and Stitches » exhibition at Cité internationale des arts in 2021. A graduate of the École normale supérieure of Lyon in Art History, she co-edited A Black Doll Like Me (2018), Inventing Ancient Greek Painting (2012), and is the author of Dear Job Center (2015).
Nora Philippe has also produced over ten documentaries for television and theaters, with the independent production company, Les films de l’air, she founded in 2011, after graduating in Film Production at Université Paris-7 Jussieu (Master’s Degree in Professional Practice). She has essentially operated European coproductions (Poland, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland…) and high-end creative nonfiction. She has taught production at SciencesPo Paris and Lille, and Ecole des Arts Décoratifs, with a focus on diversity, inclusion and gender parity in the film industry.
